I know I've needed something like > this for a while, but no one around here had heard of such a beast. Dunno about "standard" (i.e., PS/2) keyboard and mouse connections (we don't have a 3488, although we do have a copy of the manual), but it does take a standard VGA monitor. 3487s have a modular connector for the keyboard, and a PS/2-style (but read on) mouse socket. I also don't know how good the monitor has to be for 132-column mode to look good. It looks great on a 3487 (or a 3477), though. 3487s are kind of finicky about mice: a 3487 mouse works fine on a PC, but I've never found any PC mice that work at all on a 3487. But even if 3488s can't be used with a standard PS/2 keyboard and mouse (either directly or switched through a KVM switch), I believe there are clones out there (yes, Virginia, there are 5250-terminal-clones) that can. -- JHHL
