Could be wrong but sounds like the power supply is heating up which would 
cause it to shutdown. Are they both devices about the same age ?

        Hi folks, just a quick question...
                        I have a 3180 powered on as console, and it drops power 
every hour or so.
                        I can re-plug it, and power it up again, but it 
definetely powers off again..
                        Two devices are exhibiting the same problem.
