Solaris is a good platform. Not great, but good.

I wonder why you'd want to change, though? Seems like a lot of expense in
replacing equipment, re-training employees, etc. What are you gaining?

Solaris is not as user-friendly as OS/400. It's not as geared towards
businesses as OS/400. It's very powerful, however, and if you've got a
good admin, it's almost as stable.

Seems to me that if most of your organization is already "mostly
running on AS/400" it would make more sense to migrate everyone to OS/400.
I'd be interested to hear what the argument against that would be -- it would
be very instructive both to the users of this mailing list and to IBM to
understand why someone would pick Solaris over OS/400 -- especially when
the obvious answer is to migrate towards OS/400.

I can't comment on whether the ERP software is better or worse, however,
as I do not use it.
