Solaris is a good platform. Not great, but good. I wonder why you'd want to change, though? Seems like a lot of expense in replacing equipment, re-training employees, etc. What are you gaining? Solaris is not as user-friendly as OS/400. It's not as geared towards businesses as OS/400. It's very powerful, however, and if you've got a good admin, it's almost as stable. Seems to me that if most of your organization is already "mostly running on AS/400" it would make more sense to migrate everyone to OS/400. I'd be interested to hear what the argument against that would be -- it would be very instructive both to the users of this mailing list and to IBM to understand why someone would pick Solaris over OS/400 -- especially when the obvious answer is to migrate towards OS/400. I can't comment on whether the ERP software is better or worse, however, as I do not use it.
