Take a look at www.incredimail.com
 
They do it very nicely, and also have a Letter Creator tool that is easy to
use. 
 
The big advantage is that it doesn't seem to need the Outlook security leaks
in order to work well.

MS Outlook with contacts and mail merge with MS Word can do something like
this pretty well.
