this is Microsofts site for their support on these products. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/lifecycleconsumer.mspx Pretty confusing till u get to the chart at bottom with actual dates in it. It looks like MS sets the limit at 5 years after introduction for fixes. IBM has said before (somewhere) that they won't support a windows product where MS does not support the win OS.
