Hi Zak,

IBM have been too quick to withdraw vital information from circulation, not
only System Handbooks, but also System Builders and Hardware Installation
and Maintenance Manuals. I can understand why they want us to move on to
the latest models, but there must be tens if not hundreds of thousands of
older models still out there doing productive work, some on no-longer
supported OS/400 versions.

I really do not believe that IBM cannot find a few GBs of server space to
make these manuals available via their publications website. It would be a
sad indictment ot IBM if some other company had to provide it. What does
this cavalier attitude towards its loyal user base say about IBM's loyalty
to its clients? May I propose an answer to my question? "Please buy our
iSeries servers, but upgrade it every couple of years, or else you can get
stuffed".

Kind regards,

Jeffrey E. Bull

Subject: System Handbook v4r5?

Speaking of not being able to find books, is there some reason the
InfoCenter can't compile all the System Handbooks into one complete volume?

I'm tring to find the handbook for the 170-2292 I just ordered (my new home
system!). That should be the v4r5 version of the book. All links I can find
to that actually point to the v5r2 book, proudly titled "Systemm Handbook."
Can anyone help me out with the real one?

Regards,
Z
