Is that more or less than you experience over your wires?  My experience 
is that IBM does a poor job of putting any tcp/ip to the limit.  Some 
people like to see high cpu percentages to know they are utilizing their 
machine.  I'd like to see better transfer rates on my network.  And higher 
line utilization.  It's hardly ever tickled.

Virtual LAN speeds






Hi folks

I've been using the virtual ethernet between LPARs for the first time, and 

I'm a bit surprised by the speed, or rather the lack of it. What would be 
expected from it, as it's simulating 1Gbit ethernet. I FTP'd an 8Gb save 
file between two partitions (neither of which was doing much - we haven't 
gone live on the box yet) and it only managed 7Mb/sec transfer rate.
