This was my first DevCon after several COMMONs. I've just received my COMMON renewal invoice in the mail, and let's just say it found it's way directly to my circular file. DevCon blew COMMON off the map. It may not be the better option for everyone, but as a software developer I don't need most of the classes offered at COMMON, but found every single one of the sessions a DevCon to be immensely valuable. Even the non-lab sessions focused on application with plenty of demonstrations, and all revolved around the latest technologies, particularly Eclipse and XML. It was truly a pleasure to put faces to some of the names here. Seeing Pluta "perform" was a particular pleasure--you miss the smiling and cackling when you read his posts here! Yes, it's official, I'm taller than Brad, although he tried to accuse me of cheating with "tall hair." Major kudos to the organizers of this fine event. Great location, great setup, outstanding presenters...bravo! There was even free beer at lunch (at least there was at my slot machine).
