So, we have Newslink to thank for midrange-l?  

I dropped Newslink when they started charging (same as you), but I must
have missed your announcement of the "The Midrange System BBS".  Lessee, I
think it was 1999 when I first subscribed to midrange-L.  How did I
survive all those years?  (Quick answer:  There was a time when you could
call IBM for all your questions.  And I did. <g>)
