My best guess is that he has one of the "new enhanced QIC tape formats"
that doesn't read *QIC525.

I sent him a private e-mail to see if we could help him.

A few years back we had a B50.  We were running out of disk space so we
archived some files to a 6525 QIC tape compressed.
We have since replaced the B50 and we ran across the old tapes in the
vault
and would like to restore them but are having no luck.
Any ideas?
