I think you could create a horizontal scroll bar, using a field at the top of the function key format that is the width of your presentation space, maybe with an 'x' to represent location and reverse image display. A double-click in a PC5250 emulator would set the cursor into that field, and that location could be returned to your program. You could have '<' and '>' on the ends, and double-click. You'd want to turn on the "ENTER at cursor position" option and turn off the "Enter string at cursor position" option.

Upon second reading, it's now clear that you wanted a graphical scroll bar, not a technique for scrolling horizontally. That, I can't help you with. Sorry.
