Does the Linux version of Star Office work on OS X? --------------------------------------------------------- Booth Martin http://www.MartinVT.com Booth@xxxxxxxxxxxx --------------------------------------------------------- -------Original Message------- From: Midrange Systems Technical Discussion Date: Sunday, October 05, 2003 08:45:06 To: Midrange Systems Technical Discussion Subject: RE: why linux? I do not think MS owns even 1% of Apple. Several years ago they entered into an agreement with Apple where they agreed to continue develop Office for Mac and they also invested $100 million or something in exchange for Apple making IE the default web browser. As I said, that agreement has now expired and Apple now has its own browser - Safari, as well as apps like Keynote which directly compete. You either need Office file compatibility or you don't. If you don't then there are good Mac alternatives. If you do, then the best option is just to run Office. Mark Thank you for taking the time to make such a thorough reply, Mark. I'll hafta give it some more thought. Particularly about whether I can, as well as should, avoid absolutely ALL use of M$ products like I've tried to do GPL'd products in the past. (Last I heard, MicroSoft owned a 20% stake in Apple.) | -----Original Message----- | [mailto:midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of Mark Phippard <snip great stuff> _______________________________________________ This is the Midrange Systems Technical Discussion (MIDRANGE-L) mailing list To post a message email: MIDRANGE-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/midrange-l or email: MIDRANGE-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-l. _______________________________________________ This is the Midrange Systems Technical Discussion (MIDRANGE-L) mailing list To post a message email: MIDRANGE-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/midrange-l or email: MIDRANGE-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-l. .
