Hi Vern

Yes, alien is still there. I use it every now & then if all else fails. I
last used it trying to get IBM 5250 emulator installed a few weeks ago.
The default action is to install to /usr/local/ for alien .deb packages
and the IBM stuff didn't like that - still tried to find applications
in /usr/bin/ :( Even after hand tweaking I still can't get it working due
to password problems (it's not passing the password through to the
AS/400). I installed the .rpm direct on SuSE 8.2 (running in VMware on
Debian - very handy) without initial errors, but then hit the same
password issue setting up the connection.

Out of interest, has anyone managed to get the recently released Linux
5250 client running on any other platform than RedHat?

Regards, Martin
