To stay ahead in the IT game is an expensive business, whether you spend big
bucks keeping legacy systems going, or big bucks on new systems is
subjective issue, but big bucks is common to both.

The effect on your business of continually changing technology is another,
entirely separate issue.

It is my view that the iSeries is the best server in the world for both
scenarios:
- AS/400s will run and run, simply look at the number of 'old' servers still
earning their keep.
- Upgrades to iSeries, particularly with the CUOD/POD capabilities, seamless
O/S upgrades.

CIO's who chuck out iSeries for the latest stuff running web/java/xml -
quite frankly, they need to learn to read or retire.

Kind regards,

The Price Of Legacy
CIOs at the InformationWeek Fall Conference say their older
systems are still useful but often carry a high price tag.

I'd like to know how much money this CIO is "saving" by getting rid of
their iSeries.
