All the more reason to adopt GUI tools. The auditors are stuck in the
5250 world. Securing STRDBG would have only gotten snickered at by CODE's
debugger. I hope I am right. I may not be. I just noticed that STRDBG
can be run in a batch program. Maybe that's how CODE does it?

I've been surprised before. Like an iSeries that was supposed to be only
for email and stuff. No 5250 applications. Therefore we turned off
autoconfig, etc. However, running the command CRTDEVDSP is not considered
autoconfig and the iSeries Access 5250 program just ran that instead of
using autoconfig. So I had the bright idea of renaming the command to
CRTDEVDSPX. Then the system console died. The boss replaced it with a
different model. I discovered that under the covers the system did a
DLTDEVDSP and tried to do a CRTDEVDSP to the new model. End result: No
system console. I fixed it with RUNRMTCMD from another iseries. And was
promptly told to rename the command back.

I remember being at a client when they decided to lock down everything
to developers/support. Made for real fun at 2 a.m. when I got a call
about a printer problem and no one on site or me dialed in had authority
to strdbg!!!!!!

Will the auditors approve such a program? That would seem like a work
around that might be viewed as sabotage and cause you personal grief.

"go major" or "sltcmd" would seem like the only way to meet their
requirements.

All,

In my client's shop (a JDE World Software implementation), they have
recently locked down *everything* because of an impending IT audit.
