Chuck - FYI, per page 332 of the V5R2 Backup and Recovery manual you CAN restore previous release user data to a new system. The basic steps are: 1.) Install the LIC and O/S on the target system using your new release distribution media. 2.) Restore the system and user data to the target system using the Option 21 save of the source system. 3.) Update the system information on the target system. 4.) Install QGPL, QUSRSYS, Base Options, and LPP's using the new release media on the target system. This converts the restored source data to the new target release. Oh, and Vern, "Have a lot of fun..." is what you see when you sign on to a guest SuSE Linux instance on your iSeries.... Last place we had a pretty big staff and I was never sure who had done what or stuck what where to be sure we had everything. That is one case where the "upgrade" helps :-) And thanks for the query tip - quick way to check that ! I've done a ton of stuff with the Reply List, etc. Chuck This message and accompanying documents are covered by the Electronic Communications Privacy Act, 18 U.S.C. §§ 2510-2521, and contains information intended for the specified individual(s) only.
