an internet connected pc with a cd burner is definitely a pre req for doing
any type of pc install.

also for the info of all, the ops console cable for the 150 does not work on
the 170.  And even though IBM shipped me modem and other cables for this 170
( bought it thru ebay ), they did not ship an ops console cable.  It cost
$70.  I too was able to get ops console working on my 150, but the 170 put
up too much of a fight.  So I am paying $150 for a twinax controller card
that I need anyway.
