 Another way besides DTAARA?  Well...  a lot of places use a constant file
with a record with all  sorts of system wide or application wide values. 
Typically I see fields that include the company name left justified, company
name center justified, company name right justified. Next A/P check Number,
next A/P voucher number, next Payroll Check Number, next Invoice number, and
last month closed.

That's great, but you still don't know what key was assigned, so you
can't redisplay the posted record. As far as I can tell, the best way to
deal with this and get that important tidbit is by using a single
program issuing keys based on a data area value. If there's a non-DTAARA
way to do this, I'd love to know!
