I decided to do a little more research before casting aspersions on the fine folks from RealMedia (or whatever they call themselves) and in so doing found the following page: http://www.aluminumstudios.com/spyware/#cleanliving I highly suggest everyone with an Internet connection read this. I hadn't realized just how bad the spyware deal is, but evidently there are programs that, upon installation, will begin "trickle-downloading" other programs that then act as spyware. Other programs will actually hijack your DNS settings so as to resolve their outbound requests. Read the page, but more importantly follow the links. Mr. Chen has spent quite a bit of time creating what is in effect a primer on the ugly fact of spyware. For example, he provided a link to this particularly startling story: http://www.itworld.com/AppDev/1471/IDG020221mediaplayer/ <shiver> Joe
