First thing I'd try is associating a routing program that always ran STRDBG updprd(*NO) before giving over control. I might even do the same in the developers interactive subsystem. If this can't be made to work, there are bound to be alternatives. If you can have the system do it automatically, why even attempt to rely on manual methods? Since we're programmers, let's teach the system how to handle developer jobs. The serious problem I've always had was with system programs such as the startup program. Tough to guarantee without running in production when there's no separate test system.
