We do not support user queries. They are considered non production. If a user query, file transfer, (which we do not allow from production databases), or other user interfaces bomb, they have to re-build to the new file format. What we really do for transfers, is control all data transfers from the AS400 by writing to the IFS or a Transfer library under Production Application Control. We do not give users direct access to production libraries, period. Christopher K. This has been a great solution for us for many years. We have recently run into a situation that we need to address and wonder what others have done. The issue is how do you document any non-as400 applications that access the data i.e.. Showcase queries,MS Access,Client access downloads. We have taught our users to use Showcase so they are out there doing queries that we don't know anything about and we are making file changes that they don't know anything about. We have been lucky that this has only recently risen it's ugly head. The only thing we can think of is to keep track of all this stuff manually and put out a general communication to our users when we make file changes. Does anyone have any alternate suggestions.
