And you're absolutely right, on several accounts.  First, it's indeed nearly
impossible to answer "what is Windows networking" in an email.  It's sort of
like poor Don trying to ask "what is WebSphere?"  A 2500 word article will
scratch the surface, maybe, but an email just doesn't cut it.  Second,
you're right, I got plenty of good answers and finally addressed my problem.
Third, I did ask about domains, and I appreciate your side comments
regarding them.  It gives me enough information to start to learn more on my
own.  And now that I know the rough relationship between "workgroups" and
"domains" and that workgroups are enough for me right now, I can offload
that research to my copious free time.  Just a brief Google scan found
literally hundreds of in-depth pages on the issues involved.

So thanks for taking the time.  You really did help, as did everyone who
answered my plaintive calls of distress <smile>.
