I think the basic difference is that WRKJOB is for A job and WRKUSRJOB is for a "GROUP" of jobs. Here are a little more detail about the difference of these two: The Work with Job (WRKJOB) command allows you to work with or change the following information concerning a user job: o Job status attributes o Job definition attributes o Job run attributes o Spooled file information o Job log information o Call stack information o Job lock information o Library list information o Open file information o File override information o Commitment control status o Communications status o Activation group information o Mutex information o Thread information o Media library attribute information The information for the following options can be shown only when the job is active: job run attributes, call stack information, job lock information, library list information, job log information, open file information, file override information, commitment control status, communications status, activation group information, mutex information, and thread information. The following options can be found regardless of whether the user's job is on the job queue, on an output queue, or active in the system: job status attributes, job definition attributes, and spooled file information. Note, however, that the job is not considered to be in the system until all of its input has been completely read in; only then is an entry placed on the job queue. Restrictions: 1. The issuer of the command must be running under a user profile which is the same as the job user identity of the job being worked with, or the issuer of the command must be running under a user profile which has job control (*JOBCTL) special authority. The job user identity is the name of the user profile by which a job is known to other jobs. It is described in more detail in the Work Management Guide. 2. Activation group information for a job cannot be shown if the job is being held when this command is run. 3. This command fails in a job that allows multiple threads if OPTION(*FILOVR) or OPTION(*ALL) is specified. /------------------------------------------------------/ The Work with User Jobs (WRKUSRJOB) command allows you to work with a list of selected user jobs. Depending on the values you specify on the STATUS, ASTLVL, and JOBTYPE parameters, you can use this command to perform the following tasks: o You can select options to send messages to or sign off users who are signed on the system. You can also select options to display messages or display details about signed-on users. To show the Work with Signed-On Users display, specify STATUS(*ACTIVE), ASTLVL(*BASIC), and JOBTYPE(*INTERACT). o You can show the status of all batch jobs on the system. You can select options to hold, end, or release the jobs shown. You can also select options to work with printer output or display messages. o You can show the status of user jobs running on the system and of user jobs that are on job queues or output queues. You can select options to change, hold, end, work with, release, or disconnect the jobs shown. You can also select options to work with spooled files and display messages. Hope this helps...
