You want to hide a part of the html on the page.  One way would be to use <div 
style="display : none;" id="conditionalHTML">your html stuff</div>.  When you 
want it to display change the style to 'inline', when you want it to hide 
change the style to none.  In IE you would change it like this:  


document.all.conditionalHTML.style.display='inline';
