When IBM evaluate the CPW for a new processor I'm pretty sure they max-out the memory and disk-arms for the purposes of the test. For us mortal end-users that means we MUST take this factor into account when we estimate the likes of this "how many users" question. Two identical processor models can have dramatically different performance characteristics because of memory and disk-arms. It is feasible that you could be worse off in an upgrade like this, though I accept this is not probable. Kind regards, Jeffrey E. The 720 being quite a bit faster processor wise, should handle 8 users standing on one finger. That feature is 35cpw but it's really hard to come up with max users and 35 cpw.... It's not one for one so it really depends on your software and users. Just remember this... MORE memory is a "good thing". I am looking at adding this machine for some web related stuff. How many users will the above feature allow me if I decide to move from my old system to a new one? _______________________________________________ This is the Midrange Systems Technical Discussion (MIDRANGE-L) mailing list To post a message email: MIDRANGE-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/midrange-l or email: MIDRANGE-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-l. ________________________________________________________________________ This e-mail has been scanned for all viruses by ITM.
