Logged onto our webserver box, which does not have PDM, cannot do STRDFU 
or
UPDDTA.

I don't know -- I've never worked on a system without PDM too.  I'm sure 
DFU
was part of the suite including SEU and PDM, but perhaps UPDDTA was
considered part of the runtime support and thus on all system?

Regardless, UPDDTA would be a lousy way to edit s source member.  EDTF 
would
be much better, although I'd be much more likely to FTP it to a PC and 
edit
(especially since I carry a laptop with Flex/Edit installed...).
