Amitava,

The only way to change the image from *AFTER to *BOTH is to end journaling
and start journaling of the file. At some point this must be happening.
The command STRJRNPF. I would also recommend that journal entries to be
omitted be changed to omit *OPNCLO.

PHYSICAL FILE TO BE JOURNALED . NAME
        LIBRARY . . . . . . . . . . . *LIBL
NAME, *LIBL, *CURLIB
                        + FOR MORE VALUES

*LIBL
      JOURNAL . . . . . . . . . . . .
      NAME
      LIBRARY . . . . . . . . . . . *LIBL
NAME, *LIBL, *CURLIB
      RECORD IMAGES . . . . . . . . . *AFTER *AFTER,
*BOTH
JOURNAL ENTRIES TO BE OMITTED . *NONE *NONE, *OPNCLO

It appears that there is some processing that journaling is being turned
off. The command ENDJRNPF is the way journaling is ended, and this command
requires that the file not be used. Using the DSPFD on the file can assist
in when journaling was last started and if it is currently being journaled.
You can check the journal itself to seen when journaling was ended on the
file by using the following command:

            JOURNAL . . . . . . . . . . . . > journal_name

Once the journal entry is presented, display the entry, that will identify
the program that ended it and the time and date journaling was ended on the
file.

Sure hope this helps.

Hi Group,
We work in AS/400. I have a very little knowledge in journaling.
One file is being journaled, but it is seen that every 7th day, it is
doing 'After' and 'Before' images of the records, but all other days it
keeps only 'After' images. The file has '*AFTER' in its 'journal images'
parameter.
    My questions are
    i) How every 7th day, it is having both 'After' and 'Before' images?
>From where is it being controlled?
ii) I want it to have both images for every transaction. Before this
file had '*BOTH' in the 'journal images' parameter. But it still had the
same kind of information (i.e., both images every 7th day, and only 'After'
images all other days). So, what should I do to have both images always?
    TIA
    Amitava
