We've used Snapshot/400 to monitor for a variety of situations, it will send email to any address, which works for most beepers. Of course, your iSeries has to have a battery backup that sends a message to a message queue, and you have to tell the software to monitor for that CPF message. The software can pick the message up and send the page or email, and all of this assumes that the PC running snapshot (or whatever monitoring software you use) has a connection to your mail server. Also, APC's power chute business software supports email paging support on their Back-UPS, Back-UPS Pro, Smart-UPS and Matrix-UPS power supplies. --Chris On 9 Jun 2003 at 8:57, George Kinney wrote: > We've just spent the morning cleaning up after the second prolonged utility > outage (during the weekend to boot) in the past month, and its got me > wondering. > > Can anyone recommend any software (OS400 or NT) that can provide email/pager > notification of UPS events? > We don't need anything fancy, just one small 270 to babysit, and I'd like it > (or one of the NT boxes, I'm impartial.) to contact me before it shuts down > so I can come in and push the power button (or tell someone onsite to) > instead of getting woke up by angry users. > > Smaller and the cheaper are better. >
