Hi Booth, I got it sorted out. Turns out I was mistakenly thinking that a multi-format logical can only show one format at a time ("runqry *n" only gives the first record format, and SQL won't touch the thing with a very long pole). I have meanwhile gotten to a point where I can, in an RPG program only though, run through the logical and get all records in order, no matter from which physical it comes. ?One caveat: I have to use the file name, not the record name. And when i rename the records to a common name, it works like a charm. Thanks to those who responded. How large are the files? ?A method that might also work if you are under 2500 records is to build a subfile with all 3 files. ?The easiest and fastest way to build the subfile in the order you wish is to use matching record logic. ______________________________________________________________________ The information contained in this communication is confidential and may be legally privileged.
