                Rob..I agree whole heartedly with you, unfortunately today, 
with rare exception, and unless you work in a 
software company, most places are reluctant to train their employees, probably 
for reasons already discussed.
                There also is a bad tendency to take a course in a subject ; 
for example Java, then put that on their C.V.
                I generally do not put anything on my res, unless I have at 
least a degree of competency with the subject.
                Non disclosure, is a subtle way of lying...
