Jeff -

What I would do is write a simple program that you can call (after the
printer file override in the CL driver), that OPENS the printer file and
leaves it open BEFORE your report programs are called and then call the same
program again later in the CL driver after the report programs have been
called to CLOSE the printer file.

This program would have a parameter called "ACTION", where 'O' or 'OPEN'
indicates to OPEN the printer file, and 'C' or 'CLOSE' indicates to close
it.

I would send you sample code, but I'm still recovering from a disk failure
and don't have a copy other than the backup tapes right now...
