Re: Image catalog to install V5R2

I have used this several times and it is WAY COOL!

First get the PTFs and load them to your V5R1 box (and IPL (see previous 
discussion on immediate pTfs :-) )

Next create the virtual optical drive OPTVRT01 as described.

Next create the image catalog QUPGRADE1 (CRTIMGCLG) and the ADDIMGCLGE for ALL 
the media in the OS (Start with SLIC then all "B" cds then all "F" cds) in order.

Next create the image catalog QUPGRADE2 (CRTIMGCLG) and the ADDIMGCLGE to it 
for ALL the media in the Cume group (including DB and HIPER) You can't do a 
thing with it on V5R1 but once on V5R2 it's there and ready!

If you have another group you can use QUPGRDE3 for that one.

WHen ready, do your SAVE.

Use LODIMGCLG to mount QUPGRADE1 into OPTVRT01.

Then STRVRTINS pointing at OPTVRT01.

Now just sit back and watch until it's time for the CUME!

Unload QUPGRADE1 and load QUPGRADE2, go PTF option 8 using OPTVRT01.

GOTCHAs:

 You MUST have 1GB free space on your load source disk! If not it will NOT start.

 You MUST have enough free space for all those CDs plus the upgrade.
