A customer of ours encountered a lot of trouble trying to sync handheld devices using ODBC and iSeries Access V5R2 on Windows 2000 & XP. We actually had two problems. Problem One: Users could not sign on to the system, but MIS could. This turned out to be the users did not have access to the JOBD. We gave them access to the jobd and could sign on. Problem two : We could not use jdbc or odbc IBM had us endhostsvr(*file) and endhostsvr (*database) and restart several times. also had us end a couple of jobs running in qserver and qusrwrk SBS before doing strhostsvr(*file) and strhostsvr(*database) J.
