The biggie so far is 3995 Optical Library C40 attached to 2621 IOP as the V5R1 Release planning info shows it as not being supported and the suggested replacement is: Replace the 2621 IOP with a 6354, 2729 or 2749 attached via a 2621 iop (????) Also of concern (I have a LOT of items in this category, including 6050 Twinax WS Controller, all my comm lines, etc) are then items listed as: Although the following I/O features are supported on V5R1 they may experience performance limitations. In unusual and sever replacement with alternative feature may be required. I haven't gotten to the V5R2 harware items yet, let alone the software!!! Thank you IBM! -----Original Message----- From: midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Larry Bolhuis Sent: Friday, March 28, 2003 11:36 AM To: Midrange Systems Technical Discussion Subject: Re: V4R5 to V5R2 > Under the No longer supported hardware I find a number of items that > pertain to me (i.e. the specified hardware is on my 720). By no > longer supported do they mean it doesn't work or not supported (i.e. > if I have a problem tough!!!) Most of the time hardware that is "No Longer Supported" doesn't work. i.e. 13GB QIC Drive varies on but failes immediately upon attempts to use it. Some older reel tape drives no workie, 2.5GB 8MM drive not supported.
