Eric, Vern and Buck, I think that my older jetdirect 300x may not support SMNP. I'm trying to confirm that. I do know that the 310 x supports SNMPv3. As far as I know, my printing options are: A Remote Output Queue A PJL Device Description I don't think we can go PJL Device Description because as far as I know, these printers don't support PJL. An IPDS Device Description I don't think these printers support IPDS An SNMP Device Description I was hesitant to go the remote outq option because of the known issues with controlling the output. I ended up downloading TSPRWPR, the Remote Writer Page Range Support Exit Program to address the page range issue. I created a remote outq: CRTOUTQ OUTQ(QUSRSYS/PRT99) RMTSYS(*INTNETADR) RMTPRTQ(PR1) AUTOSTRWTR(1) CNNTYPE(*IP) DESTTYPE(*OTHER) TRANSFORM(*NO) USRDTATFM(QGPL/TSPRWPR) MFR TYPMDL(*IBM6400) INTNETADR('XX.XXX.X.XX') DESTOPT(XAIX) and a dummy device description: CRTDEVPRT DEVD(PRT99) DEVCLS(*VRT) TYPE(3812) MODEL(1) ONLINE(*NO) FONT(011) I sent a spool file to the outq and it printed. The alignment was off, but I'm not sure it was properly aligned to begin with. I'll continue to experiment with that. Thanks for you help. Karl Keller Information Systems Girling Health Care, Inc.
