Rob,

Unpleasant as it sounds, I suspect you will have to write your own
client to do what you want.  I might be wrong, but I don't think so.

I use this one to change from a dummy user profile, and to set the
current 
directory, etc.

However I'd like to suppress the ftp 230 message.  Or at least have it
use 
the initial user id.

In the following sample someone signed on a JONI.  Now, Joni, doesn't 
exist.  But the exit point says just put the user profile in this 
parameter that I should use.  Now, based on the following paste can you 
guess what a real iSeries user id on our machine is? C:\qtemp>FTP GDI
Connected to GDI.dekko-1. 220-QTCP at GDI. 220 Connection will close if
idle more than 5 minutes. User (GDI.dekko-1:(none)): JONI 331 Enter
password.
Password:
230 FTPTEST logged on.
ftp>


How do I either suppress that 230, or have it display JONI?
