In two lines (uh, 3?), assuming &MAXLENSTR is initialized at
DCL with the declared length of &myStringVar.

    chgvar &len (&maxlenstr + 1)
subone:
    chgvar &len (&len - 1)
    if ((%subst(&myStringVar) &len 1) = ' ') +
                  then( goto subone )



I would hope there's a better way, but it's not RPG, and
it's late..<g>
