Mike, I think you need to clarify some things for this survey to be of any use: > > 1. Disallow queries from being run in batch > What do you mean by "queries"? RUNQRY? OPNQRYF? ODBC? Are there a lot of them happening now? If you disallow them from batch, will they simply be run interactively? > > 3. Keep spool files cleaned up > This will depend on how many spool files you're talking about, how much space they're consuming, how much space you have available, etc. The answer could be any of the 4 options you gave, depending on the environment. > > 4. Change QPRFADJ to 0 and manually tune system > The answer could be any of the 4 options you gave, depending on the competency of the person making the manual adjustments. > > 5. Minimize the number of jobs in the system > Entirely depends on the circumstances... What the system is used for, what the jobs do, etc. For example: If your system is a web server, and you're serving out 100 concurrent users, and trying to do it with 2 jobs, performance will be awful. You need to be running more instances of the server which equates to more jobs. On the other hand, if you're running 100 long-running batch processes that consume a lot of CPU, and you're asking if moving 99 of them to another box will speed up the remaining job, then yes, it certainly will.
