Hello Martin,
This is a bit delayed, but I only just got back!
The upgrade went smooth, albeit that the initial Save Option 21 took 12
(yes, _twelve_) hours. This on a system that had 79% utilization of 43Gb
unprotected disk (3 x 8.5Gb + 1 17.5Gb). The tape drive is a QIC 4 DC.
There had been zero housekeeping performed on that system since it had
been installed. The backup, RCLSTG, APYPTF's and other cleanup tasks
took quite a while. Once that was completed, the installation went in
like a dream. Just for good measure, I also installed the 'iSeries
Installation Estimation PTF's for V4R4 and V4R5'.
One thing I did note was during the installation of the PTF's on V5R1.
The CUME that I loaded was C3007510. In the second note under Section 8
of the Installation Instructions it says :
If you are installing PTF's as part of an upgrade to V5R1, it is
recommended you only install the Cume PTF package (Step 10) and
perform an IPL to the B-side. After the IPL, you can install any
individual or group PTF's by skipping to STEP 9 of these instructions.
This was done, with the Group PTF's put on separately. As I said,
everything went in fine.
HTH.

Hi,

And so, onto my V4R4M0 to V5R1M0 upgrade over the weekend.
Hi Jan
I've got one of those myself next weekend, so let me know how it goes!
