It's been awhile, Jim, but look at the FNTCHRSET DDS keyword - the one I'm thinking of is in library QFNT06, named CZ920A. Outline fonts are mentioned in the DDS reference. You also need to specify a code page.

There's also a thing called a coded font (CDEFNT keyword), that combines a FNTCHRSET and a code page, IIRC. One, in library QFNT09, is XZ927ABD CDEFNT Charset CZ920A and Codepage T1000876, which i think is ASCII. There's another with codepage T1000892, which is probably EBCDIC.

BTW, I think that the AFP compatibility fonts are an option of the OS. These outline fonts are separate adnw ere usually included on a CD with any 400. You would not get the outline fonts with the compatibility option.

Outline fonts are like Adobe Type ! or Windows TrueType - any pointsizes are possible, AFAIK.

Luck

Vern - I've got the AFP Compatibility Fonts installed, but can't find any
docs (in Info Center) to indicate a "font id" (to use instead of font 19).
I did find several appendices with lists of fonts, but not the one i needed.

I'm not sure what a "outline" font is?
My experience with this is in DDS print file, specifying
things like this: A ADDRES 40A 10 FONT(19 (*POINTSIZE 8))
(except pointsize does not work if not a typographic font)
