In the OLD days (insert harp music here...), I had an E45 with an Ethernet card in it. The Ethernet line got really cranky if it didn't have _someone_ to talk to. If the hub/router/switch were turned off, the line would freak out and eventually die, requiring a reset of the Ethernet line (endtcpsvr, vrycfg, etc etc). The quick and dirty way to get this fixed was to connect an El Cheapo hub between the As/400 and the switch. For some stupid reason, this kept the AS/400 happy. Even though there wasn't _really_ anybody else to talk to, just having the hub there seemed to make it happy. Sort of like putting a mirror next to your fish tank. I would recommend this approach while all this construction is going on. It might save you from lots of line resets. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Go... FASTER! Without an upgrade! Facility that houses our AS/400 is getting renovated. As part of this renovation ... they inadvertantly cut our Ethernet and Token Ring cables! Token Ring back up but having problem with Ethernet. I've advised them to cable directly from back of AS/400 Ethernet card to Cisco Catalyst Switch. No go. Swap this cable with Token Ring and ok so cable good? What am I missing here? Any and all feedback appreciated!
