And that is how most people use VPN (or with a firewall in the VPN box). The VPN box has to be exposed to the Internet, at least the ports needed for VPN, and the firewall could do some checking before letting traffic to the VPN box. But my concern was that someone would think the AS/400 supports VPN and they heard VPN was being used for accessing a network securely and put the two together and think an AS/400 with VPN on it was some how more secure then an AS400 without VPN on it.
