Is that what the internal program that monitors for that does? How do we
change it?

Yes these appear to be the right messages.  The first indicates that the
UPS is no longer receiving power.  The second indicates that power to the
UPS was restored.

When you drop an iSeries by removing its power, you should expect that
the following IPL will be abnormal.

As far as your delay time is concerned, I would suggest relying upon your
experience with your local power.  My experience suggests that I can get
short drops of less than a minute (usually a second or two), or I can get
extended outages which would last for longer than twenty minutes.  Rarely
would I get a ten-minute outage.  Because of this I would set my own
delay time at about two minutes, and then begin an orderly shutdown.

Bear in mind that if you set your delay for 8 minutes, if you get a
seven-minute outage followed by a minute of power followed by another
seven-minute outage, you're toast.  You would probably be better off with
a shorter delay.

Are you writing your own monitoring program or just dropping the system?
Domino does appreciate an orderly shutdown and won't get it if you just
power down on short notice.
