We were working recently with a possibly similar problem. We use Intel
Netport and Lexmark Marknet print servers to give our laser printers network
connectivity. We are using *LAN attached print devices on the 400 instead of
remote output queues though.

We had a number of spool files stuck in SND status, and when we held the
spool file and released they went through fine. A technician here changed
the print server to use bi-directional communication over the parallel port,
and the problem apparently went away.
