The only thing I can think of is that using the CHGINPDFT keyword,
Indicators 32 and 45 need to be explicitly set off in order for the
DSPATR(UL) to be active. This non-protected.

Here's the DDS for this field:
A $OCAR# 5Y 0B 5 68CHGINPDFT
A 41N32 DSPATR(RI)
A 41N32 DSPATR(PC)
A CHECK(RB)
A EDTCDE(4)
A 31N32N45 COLOR(WHT)
A N31N32N45 COLOR(TRQ)
A N32N45 DSPATR(UL)
A 32 DSPATR(ND)

After I remove the dspatr(PR). It's protected on the screen using the
above
DDS.

And, yes, I recompiled both the DDS and the pgm, and yes, I'm looking at
the
correct version, and yes, I even sign off and back on (multiple times) to
ensure that the activation-group thing isn't causing me to use the old
copies.

I moved on to another strategy to make the program act as I want. But,
this
is still a curious point......

Just puzzled.
