I agree that there should be a good link, but I'm not aware of it. In the early System/38 days, we started to use message queues for items that required notification/interruption so that we could move in-line interactive to a batch background task, but message queues were not great performers. Frequently the overhead of sending the message outweighed the benefit of doing the specified batch function in-line. As a result of this, IBM brought out data queues, which gave us the same basic function as message queues, but with less overhead, and message like details. Consequently for stuff that is machine readable only, you're better to go with DTAQ's, not MSGQ's. I would have thought that somewhere IBM would have a book explaining their usage in a non-language-specific manner. Anybody got a good link? _______________________________________________ This is the Midrange Systems Technical Discussion (MIDRANGE-L) mailing list To post a message email: MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo.cgi/midrange-l or email: MIDRANGE-L-request@midrange.com Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-l.
