The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.
If you know of an easy to use, open source, search engine ... please contact support@midrange.com.
Jimmy, there are some things that can be done only from OpsNav - the newer
apps, mostly. And there are more very cool things all the time. So, if I
want a copy of a spooled file on my PC, I drag the report from OpsNav to my
Desktop or a folder. It has all the right spacing, etc, and I can work it
in TextPad or Word or whatever. The green-screen equivalent is CPYSPLF to a
physical file, then CPYTOSTMF or CPYTOIMPF to get it to the IFS so i can
have a mapped drive to retrieve it (or FTP it down to my PC). Even then,
blanks lines are suppressed (in the actual data they are indicated with a
code at the beginning of each line for number of lines, etc.) So if you
want the formatting you need to include the spacing info, then run the
result through some search/replace process. OpsNav is lots better.
But I still prefer green-screen for much administrative work.
There are now 6 Redbooks on OpsNav - check them out at www.redbooks.ibm.com
- do a search on "Operations Navigator" - they all start with "Managing the
iSeries" or something like that.
I think OpsNav has features that are good - and mots are not known. So you
use what does the job best, and fastest.
Rock on!

I was just wondering if many people use the operations navigator or just use
the 5250 non-gui interface. I think I prefer the 5250 non-gui. It takes 3
to 5 min. to start up navigator on the pc and about 1 sec to start a tn5250
session.
Thanks for the help on my sign on problem.
I really appreciate a list like this. I have been a member of the VM/VSE
list for several years now. It's nice to have a group of people willing to
give real solutions to real problems.
Thank for your Help!!!!
