David,

I'm "sure" it wasn't me since I'm receiving mail fine, but then again I
always have that concern that part of my network may be failing. I don't
care who it was as long as it wasn't me. Perhaps a post to the effect of,
"Those w/the problem have been contacted off list" would be in order.

Subject: *** ADMIN: Backup Mail Exchangers

Folks:

I've had a few situations in recent days where a persons subscription was
disabled because the mailing list software was receiving bounce messages
from the mail server.

In both cases it was because of a misconfigured backup mail exchanger (MX).

Please, if you feel you need to use a backup MX, make sure it's properly
configured. Also, keep in mind that most mail systems will try to send
mail for a number of days before giving up and returning the message ...
unless you expect your mail server to be off line for an extended period of
time, there really isn't a pressing need for a backup MX.

If you have any questions about this, feel free to contact me directly.

david
