Al, I agree that given the choice, the 3580 wins hands down, *BUT*: For a customer with 13GB QIC Drive in a 170 or 600 family machine *ANY 3580 solution is EXPENSIVE and may not even be an option and clearly does nothing to allow this customer to read any archived QIC tapes.
