Rob: if they were "transferring data", no I wouldn't. In fact, data
transfer questions come up ALL THE TIME. But nobody that is about to start
a migration has asked about data formats. That was what I was questioning.
How can you be "ready to start" a migration without understanding your data
mappings? This is a PC mindset, not a midrange mindset.

If someone were asking about migrating AS/400 to HP, Mac to Linux, or MAPICS
to BPCS, I would ask the same questions, because if you're starting a
migration you need to know this information. The point is that I bet you
dollars to doughnuts not a single person was "about to start" a BPCS to
MAPICS migration without knowing the data formats and how they are mapped.

Since we're being personal about it, if you gave someone the job of
migrating from one package to another, and they were about to start the
migration but still hadn't mapped the data, would you be okay with it?

Admit it, Rob, you just don't like me. I've admitted it, and I'm okay with
it <smile>.

Joe
